Two days ago I received on MSN a message from a friend saying that he wanted to share a photo with me. I downloaded and opened the file, which was probably a spam. From then on my computer seems to send this virus to other computers. My problem is that Norton antivirus keeps scanning the messages that I -supposededly- send and does not allow the computer to send them, but my screen get filled up with Norton alerts. What can I do to stop that? Is my computer in danger? (I have tried a full scan and some threats were found which I deleted) Thank you so much for your time.
Spam problems?vincent
Run the scan in safe mode. When you boot in safe mode, not all files are loaded, hence the lil buggers are now vulnerable to being found.
You can also run some spyware removals as well.
*Download, install and the get the updates for the following, but DO NOT RUN A SCAN YET:
Adware

Spybot15

SuperAntispyware

*Then, DISCONNECT from the internet. UNPLUG IT
*Go to Start%26gt;Settings%26gt;Control Panel%26gt;Internet Options and delete all browsing history (cookies, temporary internet files etc). Check the box, Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons.
*Make sure your folder settings allow you to see the ALL your folders, Go to My Computer%26gt;Folder Options%26gt;View. CHeck all the show files boxes and UNCHECK all the Hide boxes. Click apply and ok.
*Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings \temp
Delete all files. (for each user)
*Delete all in recycle bin
*Next, boot up in safe mode (Tap the F8 key every few seconds as the system boots up until the screen Saying Safe Mode option appears).
*Now run the above spyware programs.
I would also download and install Firefox, its less vulnerable than IE.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
(Then configure it for pop-ups and other things, like Clearing everything when you exit. tools%26gt;options%26gt;privacy tab to clear everything)
