Computer problem???hijack this
I'm sorry to say that the real problem is hard to pinpoint. However ill guess to say its likely a combination of an older system, lots of services running, and a virus. You sound competent using Spybot and Adaware, but those in my experience are better at preventing major problems vs. fixing them. McAfee is great at solving the problem, but you have to use it as an emergency boot disc (if you bought the disc anyway) instead of just installing it. Thats the only way it can work with a clean setup (the virus probably boots early).
Its also worth a try if you're able, boot in safe mode. Select the Start-%26gt;Programs-%26gt;Accessories-%26gt;System restore and choose a point when you don't remember having problems. This will rewind the registry to a hopefully cleaner time. Maybe at least allowing you to back up a few files (if you need to reinstall the system).
