I think my computer catched a bug or a virus.?

I think my comp. catched a bug or virus. I try to open Norton Antivirus to scan my comp. but it won't open. I also tried uninstalling it but it won't uninstall, it says an error message. I tried to install it on top but I can't either. This is also affecting Microsoft Words. I try to open saved documents and it won't open... Help! Is there any way I can fix this without paying someone to get into my comp. I hate when someone gets into my comp. They always jipp you. Well, anyways, please help, I am desperate. Thanks in advance for your help.
