ATTN avast! users?

i have a question about avast! antivirus

when scanning, updating, etc. does it take up a lot of ram and slow down the computer? i used to use AVG and had that problem with it and am considering avast.

No. This is my kick around internet computer and it is small (750 processor and 768 ram ). Avast doesn't slow it down and I have never had a problem. I have had "caution, a virus has been detected", but no infections in one year. One year is how long I have had this computer and not had to re-install.

I use this for opening others media, Limewire and for file downloads.

No way! It's so light i don't even notice it on my PC Just to test i am listening to my favorite music on Realplayer, having 3 tabs open on my Firefox browser and doing a scan with Avast and i'm still using a 3 year old PC with Pentium D LOL I think i've used Avast 24/7 for 2 years and its detection engine, light on resources, constant updates and $0 is top class for me!

Edit: Use Avast + Spybot + Ad-Aware 2007 (upgraded from 2005 version) with adblock plus, no script and fasterfox add on for Firefox and Ccleaner all these years for complete $0 solution so :P
